Charging guide
Home and Destination Charging (0 → 100%)
Do you know that there are two options available for charging your Tesla Model Y? You can choose to use a standard wall plug or a charging station. However, when you're on the move, public charging can only be performed with the help of a charging station as a wall plug may not be adequate. The time it takes for your EV to charge is affected by the type of charging station or EVSE used, as well as by your EV's highest charging capacity. To learn about all the charging options available for your Tesla Model Y, along with the approximate time required for charging the battery from empty to full, kindly refer to the table presented below.
Europe
Charging an electric vehicle (EV) in Europe can vary depending on the country as different countries utilize different methods. Some European countries prefer 1-phase connections, while others rely on 3-phase connections. The table provided displays all the possible charging options available for a Tesla Model Y, but please note that some charging modes may not be offered in certain countries. We suggest that you check with your local electric vehicle charging networks to determine which options are accessible to you.
Type 2 (Mennekes - IEC 62196)
Charging Point | Max. Power | Power | Time | Rate |
---|---|---|---|---|
Wall Plug (2.3 kW) | 230V / 1x10A | 2.3 kW | 29h30m | 12 km/h |
1-phase 16A (3.7 kW) | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW | 18h30m | 19 km/h |
1-phase 32A (7.4 kW) | 230V / 1x32A | 7.4 kW | 9h15m | 37 km/h |
3-phase 16A (11 kW) | 400V / 3x16A | 11 kW | 6h15m | 55 km/h |
3-phase 32A (22 kW) | 400V / 3x16A | 11 kW † | 6h15m | 55 km/h |
† = Limited by on-board charger, vehicle cannot charge faster.
Fast Charging (10 → 80%)
Fast charging is crucial to extend the distance of your journey by maximizing the amount of range added in the shortest amount of time possible. As the charging level approaches 80%, charging power will decrease significantly. As a result, the charging process is seldom carried out beyond 80%. The speed of fast charging for your electric vehicle relies on the charging station utilized and the maximum charging power that your EV can accommodate. For a comprehensive overview on how to quickly charge the Tesla Model Y, please refer to the table provided below.
- Max. Power: maximum power provided by charge point
- Avg. Power: average power provided by charge point over a session from 10% to 80%
- Time: time needed to charge from 10% to 80%
- Rate: average charging speed over a session from 10% to 80%
